Privacy Policy

Sober Sunrise is designed to be a calm, private recovery companion. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Sober Sunrise app and website may collect, how that information is used, and the choices available to you.

Plain-language summary: Sober Sunrise does not sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. Most recovery information you enter stays on your device. Some features use Apple, RevenueCat, website hosting, and content delivery services so the app can provide subscriptions, notifications, audio, and artwork.

Information You Provide

Depending on how you use the app, you may choose to provide information such as:

  • Your sobriety date and sobriety progress preferences.
  • Your display name.
  • Daily pledge entries, notes, gratitude entries, journal content, meeting reminders, and personal recovery reminders.
  • Contacts or meeting details that you manually add inside the app.
  • Support messages you send to us by email or through the website.

This recovery information is generally stored on your device and is not sent to Sober Sunrise unless you deliberately include it in a support request.

Sign in with Apple

If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide an account identifier and, only when you choose to share it, your name or email address. Sober Sunrise uses this information to support account-related features and personalization.

App Purchases and Subscriptions

Sober Sunrise offers optional Sponsor subscriptions through Apple. Apple handles purchases, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and payment information. We do not receive your full payment card information.

RevenueCat processes an anonymous app identifier and purchase history so Sober Sunrise can validate subscriptions, unlock Sponsor features, prevent purchase fraud, restore purchases, and understand subscription performance.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Sober Sunrise may schedule morning, daily pledge, meeting, or milestone reminders directly on your device.

If you enable new episode alerts, the app sends a random installation identifier and an Apple Push Notification service device token to the Sober Sunrise website server so those alerts can be delivered. These identifiers are not stored with your name, email address, sobriety date, journal entries, contacts, or other recovery content. Apple also processes the device token to deliver notifications.

Audio, Website, and Remote Asset Loading

The app may connect to Sober Sunrise website services, podcast or audio feeds, WordPress content, and Cloudflare-hosted assets to load recovery speaker talks, app artwork, premium coin assets, or related content. These services may receive standard technical information such as an IP address, device or browser information, request time, and requested URL.

Apple Services

Sober Sunrise may use Apple services such as Sign in with Apple, StoreKit, and Apple Push Notification service. Apple processes information under Apple’s privacy terms. Recovery entries currently remain on your device unless a future app version clearly offers an optional sync feature.

How We Use Information

We use information to operate the app, provide recovery tools, validate and maintain subscriptions, deliver requested notifications, respond to support requests, improve reliability, prevent abuse or fraud, and comply with legal obligations.

How We Share Information

We share only information needed for service providers to operate app features. These providers may include Apple for subscriptions, Sign in with Apple, and notifications; RevenueCat for subscription validation and entitlement management; Hostinger and WordPress for website content and push registration; and Cloudflare for remote app artwork.

We do not sell personal information or use this information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

Your Choices

  • You can choose what information to enter in the app.
  • You can disable new episode alerts in the app or disable all notifications in iOS Settings.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings.
  • You can contact us for help with account, purchase, or data questions.

Data Retention

Recovery information stored on your device remains there unless you delete it, reset the app, or remove the app and its data.

Push registration identifiers are retained while new episode notifications are enabled and may be removed when you disable them or when Apple reports that a token is no longer valid. RevenueCat retains subscription records as needed to validate purchases and provide subscription history. Support emails may be retained as needed to respond and maintain appropriate records.

Health, Recovery, and Emergency Disclaimer

Sober Sunrise is not a medical provider, emergency service, or substitute for professional care, therapy, treatment, sponsorship, meetings, or crisis support. If you are in immediate danger, call emergency services. In the United States, you can call or text 988 for crisis support.

Children

Sober Sunrise is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
